Work for Eidolon

Diego Velázquez, “Arachne/The Spinners” (c. 1657)

Eidolon is currently looking to fill two paid, part-time positions on our editorial staff:

Managing Editor

The managing editor’s primary responsibility will be ensuring that Eidolon’s articles are of the highest possible quality. Experience as an editor is preferred. The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in Classics or will by the end of 2016 (but is not employed in a tenure-track position), excellent writing skills, and enthusiasm for Eidolon’s mission.

If you are interested in this position, please send your CV, a cover letter, and a brief (ideally 1K words or fewer) writing sample in an accessible, public writing style to eidolon@paideia-institute.org with the subject line ‘Managing Editor Application’ by August 1, 2016. (In place of a new writing example, you may send a link to a published online article, either for Eidolon or another publication.)

Assistant Editor

The assistant editor will promote Eidolon articles on social media and community channels while staying on top of emerging themes, stories, and trends in public Classics. Responsibilities will include managing Eidolon’s Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr accounts, outreach, and copy-editing articles. Candidates should be either advanced undergraduates in Classics or pre-dissertation stage graduate students.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please send your CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you are interested in this position to eidolon@paideia-institute.org with the subject line ‘Assistant Editor Application’ by August 1, 2016. Your cover letter should include links to active social media accounts.
